Introducing the new phono preamplifier - Flō

For fans of the highest quality sound from an analog record, we have prepared a new phono preamplifier - Flō.
The name is the phonetic notation of the English word "flow".
And that's what Flō is - natural - music flows through him.

In terms of electronics, this is the most advanced design that has been developed so far by Robert Rolof, who works with us and is responsible for all Closer Acoustics electronics.

Listening to the voices of record collectors, I asked Robert to design for this preamplifier the possibility of selecting some of the most popular equalization curves. In this way, the owners of records, often very valuable and unique recordings, in particular classical music recorded mostly before 1954 in mono, will be able to play them with the sound characteristics with which they were recorded.

The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) standard, in which vinyl records are now pressed, appeared in 1954 to organize the way records are produced. Previously, basically every major label used "something of its own", and there were dozens of them. We chose those that were the most popular and whose music catalogs were the most extensive. Hence, in addition to the standard RIAA, we have Columbia, Decca, Teldec, CCIR. So, having such gems in the library, you can enjoy their full sound using Flō, and maybe even having the possibilities offered by Flō, will you be willing to look for original records from that time and discover original masterful performances?

The preamplifier input is equipped with two sets of XLR and RCA sockets. The preamplifier uses a proprietary solution that allows you to connect a symmetrical signal from the cartridge even using RCA cables. For optimal matching of the phono cartridge connected to the preamplifier, the impedance, capacitance and gain of the input stage are adjustable. The switches are located on the front plate, so you can select the optimal operating parameters easily according to the requirements of the cartridge. The preamplifier has five frequency response correction circuits. Equalization is carried out passively in two independent stages, separately for low and high frequencies. In the case of the RIAA characteristic, an additional filter was used to correct the operation of the circuit in the 50kHz range. The signal path uses current coupling with the omission of interstage capacitors.

Power supply: symmetrical power supply equipped with ultra-fast rectifying diodes, polyester capacitors suppressing high-frequency impulse interference, main filtration based on Panasonic low-impedance electrolytes with an extended lifetime of up to 10,000 h and a total capacity of over 50,000 microfarads. Two-stage power supply stabilization with a circuit reducing voltage ripple by an additional 15dB. At the output of the power supply, an additional filter made of polypropylene capacitors improves its impedance characteristics and gives it a more analog texture.
