LOUDSPEAKERS CLOSER ACOUSTICS EVA – MAKE II
We have made a Make II of the Closer Acoustics loudspeakers. From now on the entire enclosure is made of high quality birch plywood plus veneer, in this case teak. The enclosure it its basic design is already very rigid, but in order to even better control of resonances we used partial filling with sand. Because of this, the weight of the loudspeaker has increased from 37 to 42 kg, despite the fact that the plywood is lighter than mdf previously applied.
We have also improved a few details. There are new binding posts. They look the same as old but this time are made of pure copper and gold plated in order to improve signal transmission.
We have new spikes, made especially for us according to our design. There are two types of endings. On one end there is sharp spike and on the other a rounded head in order to use on hard floors, like stone for example.
We also decided to flush mount the drivers.
We changed the shape of the rear vent, eliminating rounded brass sleeves. The plywood allows for elegant finish and it further eliminates the air turbulence.
Finally we applied new high quality coatings, which improved end visual effect as well as added to reasonable scratch resistance.
The additional hard work put into design has brought a substantial improvement of quality. The sound gained even more clarity without loosing anything in terms of dynamics. What differentiates most from previous make is the quality of transients. One can delight the piano and its shades or percussions. Because of one fullrange driver used in Closer Acoustics Eva loudspeaker the sound coherency is exemplary. With good loudspeaker setup, they disappear as a point sound source and one consistent soundstage emerges.
With every new test recording my pride grows.
